Lenten Worship Series

A Journey to Hope: Lenten Worship Series

Do you need some hope? Do you want to grow in your capacity for hope? Where do you find a Hope that sustains?

This Lenten season, you are invited to go on A Journey to Hope as we travel with Jesus to the cross, discovering along the way that Hope can be found even as we encounter some of life’s most difficult circumstances and that our capacity for Hope is what we need most in our life’s journey.

Each worship will focus on real life circumstances along the way (i.e., relationships, self-esteem, work, temptation, money problems, suffering and death) and invite us to find Jesus as our true travel companion and his way of Love as the best compass for our journey. We will be also offering other opportunities in which you can bring each Sunday’s theme into your life, your relationships, and the community.  This journey will begin on Ash Wednesday and continue through the rest of your life!!!  Please invite your family and friends to join you in this new journey with Christ toward Hope.

Pray and Help for Haiti

For now we have two ways to share the suffering of the people of Haiti.

1. Please make monetary donations. Right now it is the most effective way to help. You can visit www.umc.org/haiti to make a direct donation to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). 100% of your donation goes directly to relief effort as the administrative costs are shared by United Methodist churches in the world including FUMC.  UMCOR was in Haiti long before the earthquake. Two United Methodist mission officers have died in Haiti as a result of the earthquake.

You can make the donation to FUMC.  Please label your donation "Haiti Relief" so that it gets credited properly.

2. Come and make Health Kits with us. Health kits are the most basic and needed items.  UMCOR requests that the following NEW items be placed in a sealed one-gallon plastic bag.

  • 1 hand towel (15” x 25” up to 17” x 27”. No kitchen towels.)
  • 1 washcloth
  • 1 comb (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
  • 1 nail file or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • 1 bath-size bar of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • 1 toothbrush (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)
  • 6 adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
  • $1.00 to purchase toothpaste
  • We will be making Health Kits each Sunday after worship. You can make your own kits or donate above items. Invite your neighbor/co-workers/families for this effort!

Life-Giving Relationships - With Jesus and Others

Looking for something more out of organized religion? Tired of the hypocrisy and finger-pointing?

Come and join a diverse community of believers focused on developing life-giving relationships with Jesus and with each other.

Participate in a church that takes action in our local community through programs targeted at the homeless, the youth, and senior citizens.

Church isn't a noun; it's a verb: it isn't a place where we go, but something that we do. Come join an environment where questions are welcomed, and being a Christian is something real. Come re-think church with us.
